How do I make the curly numbers like in this picture? http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2219932 what kind of wire do I use o insert it into the cake when it is done? My top tier is a 6 inch cake dummy, I want to have a loop bow on top, but I also want to put the birthday girls age.
Thanks
Erin

Use gumpaste or add tylose to fondant and roll out by hand or put in the extruder. The #3 among other numbers is a pita with the curlz font. I would use a heavy gauge floral wire.

What is an extruder? Is just adding tylose as good as gumpaste?

Yes, using gum paste is as good as fondant + tylose, I think it's better, it dries quicker. An extruder is a device you can use -put gumpaste/fondant in a tube that has interchangable dies. My extruder has a long metal pin that you rotate that pushes the gp or fondant through.
