I've read multiple people on here that prefer the Americolor gel colors to the Wilton... Can you achieve a true red color either BC or RI without the nasty after-taste? I am going to make some iced Christmas cookies, but I hate the taste of red icing and it seems pretty limiting to not have red icing to use.

I've used Americolor to tint RI for cookies. You don't have to use much, so I think that helps.
Just colored some RI with Americolor red.....it even smells gross! So aggravating!
