I just covered my first cake with fondant yesterday (zebra cake in pics) and all I have is a standard wood rolling pin. I found out very quickly that there is a reason fondant rolling pins exist.

What fondant rolling pin do you use? Or how do you roll your fondant out for covering cakes and cutting out decorations?

TIA

I actually use a long piece of 1" PVC pipe.

I have a long plastic fondant rolling pin I think it's 22" but it's warped and makes my fondant really wonky with thick and thin areas.

Get the ones designed for transporting drinking water.

It's not long enough so the sides of it indent into the fondant.

I use the big Wilton fondant rolling pin and it works fine.

If you have a vinyl mat you can actually roll fondant and invert the mat over the cake and peel the mat off. I find this easy to work with.

Some people roll the fondant over the rolling pin and unroll it over the cake.
