How am I suppose to decorate a German chocolate cake? Has anybody ever used a standard buttercream on the outside with fondant accents?
Use the traditional frosting between the layers and cover the outside in buttercream or ganache. I use ganache on my GC cake. I leave the sides a little bumpy with filling on purpose, but if I had to, I could smooth the sides. It's on my site under cakes. It's my most expensive cake.
