Hi everyone. I'm new to the cake deco world. I've been told that Madeira Cake is the best to hold up Fondant covering for a two tiered cake. Is this true? Can nuts be added to it too?

I wish to use the ff recipe:
1 1/2 cups sugar
250 g butter
6 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups milk
3 1/2 cups flour
6 tsp baking powder

Would the above rcp be firm enough for a two tiered cake, 10", 6", both abt 5" height? Plz help!
Thank you!!

I feel like almost any cake except for sponge or angel food work well with fondant as long as it's treated properly. Make sure you let it settle overnight with a weight to eliminate any buldges or air in the cake that could cause problems otherwise.
