I need a good scratch vanilla cake recipe with no shortening or bleached flour, that will fill one 8" square pan. Any suggestions? I'm sure I could find the answer eventually, but I'm so exhausted and the looking I've done hasnt turned up anything. Also, I need suggestions for healthy/natural icing for the cake too. Thanks for any help!
I try to use unbleached flour in as many of my cakes as I can. My go-to yellow cake is Warren Brown's yellow. Just leave out the brandy and use vanilla. The IMBC recipes would be safe and all natural. The whites are heated with 245 degree sugar syrup. There is no powdered sugar and they are less sweet. One of my grandsons will be 1 on the 21st and this is what he is getting.
