I have a vinyl placemat with a lace imprint and am wondering if I coated it with crisco if I could use this a a pattern for sugarveil? I though maybe since it has a raised pattern that I could coat the placemat and let it dry. Has anyone tried this or have any insight on if this might work or not?

ljhow, try a corner of it with SugarVeil first (a well-greased corner). When set, if SugarVeil sticks to it and doesn't remove well, try this instead: Make SugarVeil 'fabric' by spreading SugarVeil onto a Crisco-greased Silpat (or you can spread SugarVeil without grease onto the back of one of our Confectioners' Mats shown here: http://www.sugarveil.com/mat/sugarveil-mat.htm). When SugarVeil is set, peel it from the silicone mat and press it onto your greased placemat. You might even try a bit of pressure from a rolling pin.

Good luck with this experiment, and do let us know how you come out!
