I am doing a 2-tier stacked square cake and customer all of the sudden changed her mind to having lemon as the cake flavor with cream cheese buttercream. I haven't made much lemon and I'd like a no-fail recipe that can be stacked and does NOT have a cake mix base. Thanks so much!
I just take my standard vanilla cake and add lemon juice and zest and people love it. I would do that if you have a go to vanilla (i'm sure white or yellow would work fine too) cake recipe, that way you're using something you're familiar with and not trying new things out in a pinch. Just add juice and zest until it tastes lemon enough.
