how do i store a cake i dont have all of the ingredients to make the icing to ice my cake tonight and i just discoverd i am out of saran wrap. how do i store the cakes and keep them from drying out over night?

since you did not say what size cake it was I have no idea. If you have one of those wilton cake carriers that your cake would fit on than you can put the unfrosted cake in and shut it up tight that would probably help some. Do you have foil? If you don't want to put foil next to your cake than you might put a sheet of wax paper over the top of the un-iced cake and then put foil over and around it. But do this as soon as you can after your cake has completely cooled.

I have stored an unfrosted cake in the microwave and it stayed very fresh. I did have it in wax paper and plastic wrap though. Maybe do the above mentioned, wax paper and foil....not sure what else you could use.

Put the cake pan back over it. I do it with all my cakes to maintain moisture.
