I'm making a Hat Box Cake for my Mothers Birthday. It's an 8 inch Pumpkin Spice Cake, and the lid; I'm planning on using Rice Krispy Treats with everything covered in fondant.
What's the best support to use for the lid? I'm sure this question has been posed before, but I had no luck finding this specific issue.
I'll have fondant/gumpaste roses between the top of the cake and lid btw.

I suppose I can put the Rice Krispy lid on a cake board, and lean it on dowels that are placed in the 8 inch cake below...........
I may have just figured it out.
I would welcome any ideas from bakers who have had success with this type of cake.
