Hey all! I have an order for a hellboy baby cake (awesome, right?), and i am thinking of making hellboys head out of fondant. I dont know if i should make the rattles and other baby accessories out of fondant as well?

That being said, i have never worked with fondant before.

What are things i should know?
Should i buy it premade, or make it myself?
Do i need special equipment?
how much time should i give myself?

How do you mean? A 3D hellboy cake or only a little figurine? If its 3d one I suggest making it from rkt, if its only small figurine then fondant is fine.

if you never used fondant better get premade one.
don't really need special equipment, can use thing you have in your kitchen.

Update: I will also be making a zombie cake with fondant. the tombstone background will be 9x13x2, and i will be carving 2 9x2 and 2 6x2 for the head.

How much fondant will i need for the head?
From what i can find it looks like i will need about 40 oz fondant for the tombstone.

And i meant the cake, not just a figurine. i want it to be made of cake, not rice crispy treats.
