Do you us buttercream icing or royal icing under fondant??

i only use buttercream frosting under fondant. royal icing i reserve for cookies. the fondant will naturally adhere to the bc.

royal icing will dry hard.

Buttercream or ganache under fondant in the US on sponge cakes.

RI or fondant on top of marzipan on fruit cakes in the UK & other Commonwealth countries.
