How long before leveling your cake should you apply the simple syrup to allow it to soak in? this will be my first time using simple syrup and am bit nervous.
ok, I just watch a youtube video and they leveled the cake and then applied the syrup....
is this how most of you do it? I was thinking you applied it before leveling, but I guess it would not soak up as well thru the top crust..
I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but should the cake be a room temp or is it ok if they are cool/cold. Mine are in the frig and I plan to ice them down in a few hours...
Yes, you level the cake before applying the simple syrup. It would be a waste to cut away all that syrup!
I prefer to work with room temp cake, but chilled should work fine. Not frozen, of course.
Also, use warm syrup and it will soak in better.
