Hi,
Please be patient with me as this is my first post. Really getting into cake decorating but one thing I'm struggling with is when I'm working with black icing, when I roll it, i use icing sugar to prevent it sticking but as a result it then fades.
Any help most welcome.
Thanks
Mo

Paint it with vodka with a little black food color mixed in, and you'll have a nice glossy black.

I just rub mine down with a little bit of crisco. Steaming it when you are done will get rid of all that extra sugar.

A thin layer of high ratio shortening will do the trick as well. It will look more like patent leather. I would think regular shortening would do the same too.
