Birthday Cake Newbie Help

Hi this is my first post and i really need help. ive been looking everywhere for the perfect recipe for my sisters 3 layer birthday cake. i have the design sorted i just need the recipe. i just need a plain sponge cake (no nuts) thats moist and sturdy. i dont really want to use oil or shortening, i dont mind unsalted butter. i also need a buttercream recipe a good frosting if that makes sense i can never get my buttercream right its either too buttery or taste like something is missing. i only need frosting for filling and crumb coat. please help it would so much apprectiated if you did im tearing my hair out here

Basic sponge cake recipe:

Here's a highly rated traditional Genoise sponge cake recipe:
(Note some of the negative ratings were because the cake was dry. But that's because the recipe doesn't advise the sugar wash which is also traditional with this type of recipe.)
