I made the Cake Boss White Velvet Cake and the Flavor is incredible!! but the texture of the cake...not so much its really heavy and thick i guess is the word for it. Its not at all like the Box mixes! Can anyone tell me why that is? I would really love to make it again!
I don't know about that particular recipe, but the texture of scratch cakes is greatly affected by the mixing technique that you use, as well as by the temperature of the ingredients when you mix them. That cake recipe might be too dense for your taste, but make sure that you mixed it according to the directions.
You can also go to epicurious.com and look up recipes to try. They get ratings from people who have used them before, so you can kind of screen out the bad ones and just go for the ones that have been successful for people.
