I'm trying to get Orange icing but, my icing is a caramel buttercream so, it is already a very light brown color. Normally for orange it is 3 yellow to 1 red (or so) but, I'm guessing I won't get the same result when starting with a light brown base so, I just wanted to see if anyone knew before I added as I don't want to end up with sludge! LOL

I'd pull a small amount out and try the normal amount you would use. You will then see what color tone you will get and which color you may need to add more or less of.

Thanks ladies! Turns out, as I went into my box to get my yellow and red, I found out that I had electric orange.....DUH. Worked like a charm and, I got a great pumpkin orange color with it!

Is there a color chart to mix icing colors? I usually have trouble getting the right mix. And like the OP posted, 3 parts to 1 part... how do you measure the parts? TIA!
