Hi. I just found this wonderful website while searching the 'net for a solution to my problem. I wasn't able to find the answer so I'm hoping someone here could help. I've made my own fondant a few times now and I've had a lot of luck with it. This time however, I needed to make sure all the tiers of the cake were the same uniform brown color so I decided to use a premade fondant. Once I knead the fondant and start rolling it looks ok, however when I place it over the cake small cracks start forming at the edge. At first I thought it was because it was getting too dry with the cornstarch/powdered sugar I put on my mat so I tried using shortening and I tried a cooking spray. That didn't work. I also tried kneading it longer and microwaving it for a few seconds as well. I truly don't know why this is happening. At this point I really wish I made my own, but its too late now. Should I be doing something different because its premade fondant?
