Good day everyone!!! I need your help, PLS!!

Which pan and what size to achieve this cake on the following link?

http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1149463

I will be placing it on top of a one layer sheet cake (12x18in.) All fondant.
This will be for a cousin of a friend, ( I do not know her) charging only for ingredients. I have never carve a cake, not looking forward to it! icon_redface.gif

Thank you in advance for your time and help. icon_smile.gif

It looks to me like an oval pan was used, you could use a round pan and carve to shape, but an oval pan would be easier, you could shape the oval pan more if you wanted to. I would make it two layer high, and carve it so the bottom was slightly smaller than the top. To do that I would cut a template the size I want to bottom to be, turn the cake up side down, carve at an angle to what is now the bottom keeping the bottom edge the orginial size. When done carving turn the cake over again, so the bottom of the cake is now the smaller oval. I hope you that is clear, and good luck

Thank you CatieKake! I am off to buy an oval pan, I have a Michael's coupon, this cake is for the fifth of Oct. If I do not have to, I rather not carve! icon_redface.gif

Ciao!
