One box makes an 8" round, so I would use two. You will probably have some extra batter, but you can either freeze for later or make some cupcake for your friends and family.

For a 12x2 round pan use 1 1/2 mixes. Two is a bit much and probably will spill over icon_sad.gif
You can make a 6"r or cuppies with the extra batter.

I use two boxes for a 12" round.

1 box = two 6"
2 boxes = two 8"
3 boxes = two 10"
2 boxes = one 12"
3 boxes = one 14"
4 boxes = one 16"
