Not real sure what the difference between Michelle's accents and regular fondant accents (not familiar),but, I've used fondant accents on cream cheese icing MANY times...no problem

sweettreat-I love that recipe too!...unfortunately, my sister hates it...and these are her cupcakes I certainly hope the shortning isn't the key to your success!
