hi, I've seen some wonderful wine barrel cakes on this site, but Just wondering how do i make one that stands up?
Do I layer the cakes with supports?
It's only to serve approx 25 people, but I still want to give it the proper effect. Thank you so much
Hey I made one of these recently. I used Rice Crispy Treats on the bottom half, I molded them to the pan that the cake was, stacked then carved them so the bottom went in. So it had the curve of the barrel, then stacked the regular cake on top of it and carved the top half to match the bottom. Then covered in butter cream and strips of fondant. I hope this helped any
Sprry for posting this so late, so I am probably of no help to you on this, but just wanted to share. I made this cake for my Uncle's 80th surprise birthday last year. Everything on the cake is edible.
It was my first attempt at making something like this. Everyone was raving about it.
