I need some new ideas for making buttercream flowers on top of cupcakes. So far I've done roses, hydrangeas, and the country rose pictured here: http://southerncottagecakery.squarespace.com/home/category/how-to. Any ideas? I'm looking for something pretty for an adult birthday, but nothing that requires more than colored buttercream. It's a last minute order and I don't have time to get fondant/pearls/luster dust, etc.

have you seen Martha Stewart's chrysanthemum cupcakes? they're kind of cute, and different from the rose and hydrangea.

if the above link doesn't work, just google Martha Stewart Chrysanthemum cupcakes, and the third link should be the instructions. HTH!

I don't know if you have facebook, but this woman has the most beautiful cupcakes and cake flowers I have seen using buttercream: http://www.facebook.com/Mahas.Kakes?sk=wall

Sorry, I'm not sure if you need a facebook account to view these or not.

Forgot to mention if you are new to facebook, if you click on "photos" on the left hand side of her page, there's a group of photos she calls "cupcakes" and I think she has about 65 flower frosted cupcakes. So click on that. Very beautiful. Hope this helps.

Sunflower, zinnia, daisy and dahlia are possibles. Also small arrangements of drop flowers would be nice.
