Besides using WASC recipe, is there any other type of cake that can be used when decorating it with fondant?? Would a cake box mix with an extra egg and a box of pudding make it??

I've seen just about everything except angel food and tres leches under fondant, including box mix, doctored box mix, and many many varieties of scratch cakes.
Fondant is NOT that heavy. If your covering your cake an inch of fondat, you might have a problem. But really, it shouldn't be rolled more then an 1/8" thick. Cake is cake, with the exception of a chiffon type cake.
