What Makes This Happen?

This isnt my picture, but occasionaly i get that same problem (The not smooth top, where it has like mini holes and just isnt attractive).

Is it because of too much sugar?

Perhaps its the leavening?

My carrot cakes does that but it doesn't bug me because you can't tell once frosted. Not sure of the cause.

I like to show part f the top when i ice em, so it is a problem for me. :/

Do you tap the pan on the counter before baking to get the air bubbles out? If you already do that, then I don't know what causes it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
