I'm making a lamb on top of a cake. How far in advance should I make the topper? The cake is due on Sept. 18th, so I plan on making the cake the day before and the cake topper on the 16th. Any thoughts?
If it is gumpaste, chocolate or fondant you could make it weeks in advance.
Thanks Sugar_N_Spice_Cakes. It'll be made out of rice treats then covered with buttercream and then fondant. I don't want to make it too far in advance because the rice treats may become stale.
I try to do RKT as late as possible so it doesn't go stale. However I have found that if I cover the RKT in modeling chocolate I can get more time without worrying about them getting stale.
