im making a giant cupcake for the first time. im unsure of what to use for the icing i want the typical cupcake look. i tried using butter icing and a piping back didnt look how i wanted it to. im unsure if its my icing or the piping back i want to use the star shape nozzle and curl it up to the top its just not working should i use normal icing? please help its for a little girls birthday icon_sad.gif

I think it would be hard to do a normal swirl on the giant cupcake. I think I usually see lots of little swirls on them. I like lots of the rose swirl on mine. Either way, I think regular buttercream is fine however you decide to frost it.

I made one recently that looked sort of like the standard swirl. I used half a ball pan and then just used buttercreme and a 1M tip to swirl around and around. It was as close as I could come.
