My situation is i have a nice bread knife, but when i try to level cakes, i end up not doing the best job ever. its not terrible or anything, and im the only one who pays attention, but still.

Im debating getting a cake leveler in place of using my bread knife. What do you think? What would you do? Product recommendations?

I recently purchased an Agbay Jr. and love it. It is expensive, but worth it. Until now, though, I used the small Wilton Leveler and was able to do a better job with that than with a knife. The Agbay is definitely quicker and more precise. The large Wilton Leveler I have was used once and then set in the back of my pantry taking up space, it tore my cake. HTH.

Just received my agbay this week and it's the best thing I've ever purchased. Wilton leveler is piece of junk! I saved for a while to get the agbay but it's worth every penny. I'm no pro but I don't regret spending the money.

Use enough batter so your cakes rise above the pan then level using the top of the pan as your guide icon_smile.gif Otherwise take them out of the pan, put a couple of cake circles in the bottom of the pan and put them back in the pan (they'll be raised up above the top of the pan) and level to the top of the pan.
