I bake for charity, i.e. I get to do the fun part, the customers get the treats, and they hand me a check made out to my favorite charity. I do about 4 orders a week, but have never done a wedding cake.
2 weeks ago, I was actually to the point with a lady where she had told me exactly what she wanted, where and when to deliver the cake, and we'd agreed on a cost. The next day, she e-mailed and backed out, saying she decided to go with a licensed bakery. I was very disappointed.
Well, I just now booked my first civil union cake -- not exactly a wedding cake, but it still counts! It'll be a 2-tiered basketweave with lots of flowers. I'm so excited!!!!!!!
If straight people don't want me to do their wedding cakes, at least I'm being embraced by the gay community!
