I entered my cake in the county fair this week and received a blue ribbon & a merit award. I did a topsy turvy Alice in Wonderland 5 tier cake full of bright colors. I have had so many people come up to me at the fair and tell me that my cake is just amazing. This is all after I took a year off from making cakes. My mom passed away and I just haven't felt up to it. She was always so proud of me when I did these things. After taking my family to Disney World this year, I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. A lot of cakes right here on CC have inspired my design (thank you!) and I just got word that my cake is going to be on the front page of our local newspaper tomorrow. I can only dream of the words my mom would have said... I just wanted to post this to anyone else in a rut, maybe it will inspire you to start decorating again Thanks CC!
Your mom probably was upthere in heaven guiding your thought and hands to create such a wonderful cake
First let me say that I'm sorry for your loss. I know firsthand how difficult it is to continue with life after something so tragic . I must say though that your cake is absolutely GORGEOUS! Your mom would certainly want you to keep on cakin' . I'm glad you have your "mojo" back
So, sorry about Mom. I wish I could share my cakes with my mom too, who passed away before I started my cake hobby. Hang in there.
Your cake is AWESOME! Beautiful colors...congrats! Mom would be proud.
BTW, It's good to see a fellow Wisconsinite on CC. Sometimes I think I am the only one! I live close to Manitowoc.
