How many dowel rods should I use for a 15 inch and 11 inch cake? The 11 inch cake will be stacked on the 15 inch and ontop of the 11 inch I am using 7" pillars with the separator plates, on which a 7 inch cake will rest.

I have the wilton hard plastic dowel rods ( the larger ones )

Many thanks

I'd use fourit's enough when using the plastic hollow rods. With wooden dowels, you'd need more.

Hi sugarprincess,

I like 5. One in the center, and the other 4 evenly spaced out around the center rod, about 4 inches out.

I like to using Wilton's white plastic dowels as they have a wider foot print in the cake. I also like using them because they are easier to cut, and cut again, when I just can't seem to get them all exactly the same height.

Good Luck with your cake.

Edna's video says one every two inches. I also like to put on in the middle.
