I really want to go to bed but I can't decide how to finish this cake! I'm making a 3-tier cake using the i am baker rose cake (you know, the one everyone's doing with buttercream rose swirls all over the cake?). I'm not stacking the cake until I get to the "venue" tomorrow, so I want to know, is it better to add the roses tonight and hope they don't smoosh on the bottom as I transfer them to the fridge, into their box, while stacking, etc. or should I just do it there?
If it were me, I'd do it on site as you're stacking your cake. It's such a fast and easy way to ice a cake, you'll have it done in no time. Or you could do it now and just bring extra icing, a tip, and a piping bag and if you smoosh or bump the cake you can fix any imperfection at that time. Best of luck to you. =)
Thank you, thank you! I think I will do that. It's a free cake for a very low-key friend, but I still feel a lot of pressure to get it right since I feel like my reputation is on the line.
