Hi, I am in the middle of making a vanilla cake with cherry chunks. I just noticed that the cherries I have are (canned) tart cherries. Will they be okay to use in a vanilla cake...or will they be too sour?? I dont really like cherries, and I just tried to eat one and think they are too sour...but I don't know if that will change with baking.

Please help!!! (quick...I'm ready to put this bad boy in the oven!)

Thank you!!!!!

If your vanilla cake is on the sweeter side (I know mine is) I think the sour cherries would be a nice contrast to the sweetness.

Thanks, I guess I'll give it a go! This is the first time I have made a cherry type cake...can I buy cherries in a can that are not tart?

Ohn I must have missed the can part. The sour cherries I buy come in a jar and, the only canned cherry I have ever seen in a can (I'm in Canada) is pie fillling so, I'm not sure. icon_sad.gif Sorry.

Thats okay. It turned out pretty good! And I tried the buttercream dream recipe I found on here and that made it over the top! Thanks for the help!
