What Is The Best Cake Decorating Book???
Decorating By kts3417 Updated 10 Sep 2005 , 6:57am by MissBaritone
I am interested in getting a book or two with recipes and decorating ideas/tips and hopefully some step by step instruction on how to make/decorate some of the cakes in the book. What would you all suggest is the best book out there for a cake decorator to own???
Thanks!
Katie
I just ordered some from the "shop" here but they haven't come yet, I recently purchased the Whimsical bake house. Its okay, has lots of recipes and step by step, but its mostly candy melt decorations, not a favorite at my house. A good book to have but not the best one...I'm still searching for that.
Let me know what you come up with. good luck
That's a hard one! I probably have 50 books (actually probably more - I just ordered three more today). which book will be best for you will depend on what type of decorating you are looking to do. One of my favorites because it has a variety of mediums is the Essential Cake Decorating Guide by Jane Price. You can look at it on Amazon.com and even search inside of it there.

One of my favorites is The Well Decorated Cake by Toba Garrett. She works with all mediums (buttercream, royal, marzipan, fondant, etc.) and is a well rounded decorator. Her book is geared towards the intermediate/advanced baker.
the well decorated cake is good
Whimiscal book is good.
