I have done a lot of work with fondant and now have an order for cupcakes with buttercream on top. I am wondering how to make them look pretty on top. What size tip do I use?

Thanks

My two favorite tips are the Wilton 1M (the classic swirl look) or Wilton 1B (more of a flowly (is that a word?) look)

I like 1m or 2d from wilton for a big swirl. You can also make a rose with tip 104 wilton. You can also use a big round tip that looks like a swirl of ice cream on top. HTH!

I like the 1M as well. Do you plan, or want, to put any flowers on top? You could make the rose or some quick drop flowers to add a punch of color or contrast. I like to use tip 352 for foolproof leaves. In a very short time you can create a beautiful design!!!

I use the 1M because I couldn't buy the 1B at Michael's and I needed a tip immediately. I guess I've just gotten stuck now with the 1M!

I used the 1M and love them! I am so happy with how they turned out. I used buttercream and then put a fondant topper on top of that! Thanks for all the advice!

Does anyone know what tip is larger than the Wilton 1M to make a larger cupcake top swirl? Any recommendations? Thank you!

Ateco makes XL piping tips in star (closed and open), round and french. Those are all I ever use now.

I dont know for sure if this is bigger but, if you have a coupler, you could put tape on the slit and make the swirl with it. did i explain that right?
