I have been using Sugarshack's buttercream and the Wilton buttercream. I am not in love with either of those recipes and wanted to try another one. I keep seeing the same buttercream recipes mentioned over and over again on here, but I never paid much attention because I wasn't looking for a new one to try. So what are some of the favorite american buttercream recipes here? I already have a SMBC recipe I love so I'm just looking for american buttercream. I want one I'll love not just like well enough which is how I feel about the ones I currently use.
Did you look in the Most Saved Recipes section? If you want something that's all shortening, go with Indydebi's recipe. You can use butter in that too. I have used the Buttercream Dream recipe and it's good as well.
I will send you a recipe from a new book I bought (Miette). I am in love with that recipe. I made the vanilla and then added lemon curd to use it in lemon cupcakes and both were spectacular. Looks very silky and the texture is so delicate!!! Everyone who tasted the cupcakes mentioned how luscious, silky and delicate tasted both, the lemon curd and the buttercream. There are couple of steps to follow but is worth it!!!
Do you own any of Toba Garrett's cake books. Her decorator's buttercream is excellent! She uses butter and hi ratio shortening so it has great flavor and is so smooth and fluffy when made correctly.
momsgoodies, would you mind sending me the recipe also? The way you described it, it sounds wonderful!
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I didn't even notice the view most saved recipe option when I was perusing the recipes. I have bookmarked several of these to try. I have a huge batch of sugarshack buttercream so it will be awhile before I get around to trying them out but I can't wait!
I am also looking for additional buttercream recipes. Momsgoodies would you be willing to share yours with me also? Thanks.
Please, just share it with all of us on this thread. I would appreciate it. Thanks , momsgoodies.
I use sugarshacks butter cream but substitute some of the shortening for butter. I used 1.5 cups to 3.5 cups of hiratio. Love the taste and I get the smoothness of sugarshacks method.
Hi!! Sorry for the delay. I can't post the attachment (and is a little bit long). Sent me an e-mail (mod edited) regarding this and i will gladly help you.
Miette's vanilla b/c recipe:
(Doesn't appear to be an American b/c, though.)
