Hello,

Has anyone got any idea how I can make a roof for a dolls house cake? Ideally I want the body of the house to be a cube, with the roof space left hollow so it can be removed.

I was wondering if I could cut fondant to the correct size and shape, allow it to set hard then join it together?

This is my first attempt at anything like this so any help or suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Neil

i would use a royal icing, draw the correct size rectange on wax paper then pipe around design and flood in leave a few days to set hard, then join it together, i dont think fondant would set hard enough but you could try adding tylose, i think royal icing would be better good luck and post a pic when your done

I'm not sure what size roof you plan on making, but if you find that you need more support for the roof, you could use some rice crispy treats in the shape of wide triangles to hold the roof up over the cake. This way you could still remove the roof and then eat the rice treats. : O )

edited to add - for my little house cake I used fondant for the roof
