Hi all, I have a lady who has asked me to make her baby's christening cake, the problem is she wants to use the top tier of her wedding cake which is friut on top of a chocolate sponge bottom tier, I know this is a no go area, but wondered if anyone has actually tried it out using trillions of dowels x

So long as you get the support right I can't see why it wouldn't work. Having never made a fruit cake, I can't advise the best way forward but you could stack anything so long as you make sure the weight of the fruit cake is on the dowels rather than the chocolate cake.

It might be worth posing the question on the UK bakers thread as fruit cake is still very popular as wedding cake here and there are a lot more knowledgeable bakers than me there who can help you.
