I had one cake that had a tiny ribbon and a 1"ribbon. What I did was take some non-toxic spray glue, and spray one side of the tiny ribbon, then basically just glued it to the larger one.

That is one way to do it. Probably the faster way. One time I put three different widths of ribbon on a cake and I sewed the ribbons together before putting them on the cake. then I believe that I just used a little extra icing for attaching. I don't remember for sure about that part because itt has been too long, but I almost think the icing was tacky enough that I didn't need extra.

I can't sew so the glue method would be better. LOL You don't want me near a sewing machine or needle and thread! LOL
Thanks!

I can glue, but I am better with a sewing machine. I have more patience with it and it isn't as likely to make a mess the I would if I had glue to work with. I do understand. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. I would have glue all over me and I also would not have the patience to wait until it dried.

I use double sided tape. I put it on the thinner ribbon and then peel off the backing and stick to the other ribbon.
Works for me icon_smile.gif

Well, that is smart for sure. If you don't have a real narrow ribbon to attach. Great. Will keep that in mind. Thanks for the idea.

love the tape idea too! Do you use the really strong tape from the craft store or the scotch brand?

I have 3 sizes, one is 3ml and a 6ml, and i'm thinking the other is about a 10ml, (1cm)
it was actually made for scrapbooking.. that kind of tape, its acid free solvent free and super super thin and holds extremely well,
I even use it on the edge of the board if I put ribbon on it. icon_biggrin.gif

I use corn syrup and a paintbrush. I paint it on like glue and hold it for about 30 seconds.
