My baby's first party is finally here... This weekend I will attempt my first fondant cake! I purchased some Wilton Royal icing, so I wasn't "risking" my own not turning out... But I need it to be really dark brown, to match chocolate fondant. I had attempted to colour my fondant brown, but couldn't get the right shade, so will this happen if I use the colouring in the royal icing too? Can I add cocoa to make it a chocolate colour?

Hi there, I wouldn't add cocoa to it. Do you have access to the royal icing colourings? Here in the UK I use squires liquid food colours rather than pastes for royal icing. If not my advice would be to add a little black first then the brown and experiment this way to get it dark enough. This will make the royal icing darker to start with so you don't have to add quite so much dark brown as you don't want to change the consistency of the RI too much.
