Carving A Number Cake

ok i have a big rectangle pan and i used wax paper to draw my six and 5.
now my dilemma is do i ice it befor i carve it? i would guess not because the crumbs would get in it...correct or no?please help quick!

Let the cake be really cold. Ice after your cut it. I would crumb coat it a little. Put in fridge for little bit, then ice it. hth

Nope. Cut out first and then crumb coat. Good luck!
