I need gumpaste within 24 hours to start work on a face mask for a football helmet cake. I don't live anywhere near a cake supply store... that's not an option. I could use a recipe like the Easy Gumpaste recipe on here but I would have to modify it because I don't have access to Glucose. So I am worried about it turning out correctly.

I was wondering if I could make a thick enough royal icing to form it into a face mask (it needs to be pretty thick ropes so piping wouldn't work). I know I could make it thick just by adding more powdered sugar, but would it dry hard enough??

So I guess I have two options:
Make Easy Gumpaste Recipe and hope it turns out without Glucose or make a super thick royal icing and hope it sets up hard enough...

What do yall think???

Use corn syrup its close enough to glucose, you may just want to cut back on any other liquid in the recipe.
