Last night I put a fully decorated buttercream white and pink ribbon cake in the freezer uncovered. I was tired and forgot to cover it because I thought it would mess up the icing. Its for my aunts wedding cake and its 5 hrs until the wedding. The cake looks beautiful but I remembered about freezer burn...Will my cake be okay? Its for a wedding and I think Im about to cry.
Freezer burn doesn't happen overnight.
No it should be fine. The icing would protect the cake itself from drying out. This actually happened to me two weeks ago. I didn't actually get a slice of cake but she said it was tasty. I think your biggest problem right now would be defrosting. I would find a way to keep as much outside air away from it as possible.
