HI everyone, I am in need of some help on the making the crust on a 12" round pizza cake look authentic, without using an airbrush.
Would you use fondant (dyed what color?) or Buttercream (also what color?)

I appreciate any help as soon as you can! Thank so much.

I would personally use fondant, number one because I'm so much better at fondant than at buttercream and number two because then you can paint a nice golden edge on it with gel color dissolved in alcohol (Everclear or vodka work fine). You can mix up a nice golden brown using a little brown, a little yellow and just a drop of orange, and you can paint it on just where an oven would brown a pizza crust. I don't know if you've seen the cakes on here lately that simulate a stack of pancakes, but if you look at the edge of each pancake, you'll see something like what I'm suggesting.
