Luckily I was just making a cake for my family so it wasn't a huge deal, but it still made me want to cry.

I had it sitting on my kitchen island, just finished. I hadn't even managed to take a picture. It was a 9 inch round decorated with a bunch of buttercream roses. I'm still new at this and those were the best roses I'd made, I was proud of it! We're going to dinner with my parents tonight so I was going to bring it as dessert. I was doing dishes in the sink. The water was on and I moved the faucet from one side of the sink to the other. The faucet broke off in my hand! The water shot straight from the whole in the faucet and blasted the cake, drenching it! It was destroyed.

Not only that, but it made a huge mess and I don't have a functioning kitchen sink to clean it up. I still have all of my dirty dishes full of food colored buttercream too. And my $200 faucet that is less than 18 months old is completely destroyed. The plumber is refusing to stand behind it even though he told me it was a very high quality faucet and I purchased it through him because he warrantied those sold through him, but not Home Depot. Apparantly, the warranty only lasts until it breaks, then it doesn't exist anymore.

Oh no! I actually had the same thing happen to me a little over a month ago - I was trying to rinse off my hands, moved the sink head, and it snapped off in my hand, spraying water directly across the kitchen to where my cake had been standing not 2 minutes before. When it happened my heart completely dropped into my stomach... I can only imagine how it felt having your cake destroyed... I'm so sorry!

Did you get a written warranty for the faucet?
