I need help! I am making a 2 tier wedding cake with a fondant band in the middle that is going to have a lace embroidery on the top and bottom. My two concerns are the band drying out and cracking when I'm wrapping it around the cake since it will take quite a bit of time to cut and apply the lace. And two making sure the band is PERFECTLY in the middle of the cake and not wiggly. Any ideas or advice?!?
I have done lace applicades on cakes, and I cut them out ahead of time, and placed them in a ziploc bag, it worked great. I did it a week ahead of time, and they were a little firm but still soft, it was easier to place on the cake. I also did a cake with several fondant bands that went around the cake, I used a seam gauge to measure around the cake to keep the bands even.
