I'm wanting to make a chocolate hazelnut layer cake. I'm looking to add a fall fruit to it. What do you think would make a nice combination?

I was thinking raspberry but not sure thats "fall'ish".

An apple compote or pie-like filling goes well with chocolate and nuts.

Dates. And ALL of the above. Why not more than one?

apricots, apples, all berries, bananas, cranberries, oranges, pears, persimmons, prunes, and quince all pair well with hazelnuts

I looked up what fruit goes good with hazelnuts and I think for fall, figs and apricots seem to be the winners.
