Does A Little Silver Dust Generally Go A Long Way?

I have half of a 1/2 oz container left of silver dust. I need to paint stripes on a 10" tier (alternating with purple), and some star appliques. My nephew used up half of my silver dust so I didn't realize it until yesterday and it's too late to order more. I can't use the Wilton dust because it doesn't paint well.

Perhaps I should make an SOS call to the decorator I buy my fondant from and see if she will sell me some? I'm sure she has some, but I don't want to put her out either.

What would CC do?

There are a lot of things that will factor in, how big your strips are, how dark they are, how thin/thick you make the mixture.

I'd personally make the SOS call. I have found when I have a back up plan I am less likely to need it. If I don't have a back up plan, that is when I run out of something or have to redo something. I'd rather have a source to some and not end up needing it, then need it and it be midnight and I can't call anyone. icon_smile.gif
