hi, i have been reading about RKT here and would love to try it.But i was wondering if there is an alternative to using the marshmallows. Also is it better to mold characters with it than gumpaste?

Rice Krispy treats have been much easier for me in sculpting, especially for the larger figures. And they are much lighter than using solid gumpaste or modeling chocolate. I've never sculpted a thing in my life until I started making cakes. I've made these cakes where all the figures are made of Rice Krispy treats. Lady Gaga was my very first rice krispy creation.

I personally like using gumpaste for my figurines. I use rkt for anything larger and I cover iron modeling chocolate.

WOW is all i can say.Olleharr your cakes are beautiful. the figures in the 2nd photo were molded using a mold or were there done free hand. Besides is there any substitute for marshmallows in the RKT recipe.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Louicakes. I did them by hand and was very surprised with how easy they were. After forming the bust I just covered the outside with small amounts of colored modeling chocolate until I got the desired affect. I don't know about the marshmallows though. I just used the store bought rice krispy treats. Much easier and quicker for me.
