I've been asked to make a cake with an american theme and to possibly include a top gun theme. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I remember airplanes or fighter jets or something to that effect from the movie.. Hey, it was the 80's, so I don't remember that much! You could add an American flag onto the plane...

Could you incorporate the aviator sunglasses and the leather bomber jacket?

I think the inside of this cake is really cool ...

It looks like a lot of work, but it's definitely an American theme.

Sounds like fun. Is it specifically a "military" concept or overall patriotrism that is being requested?

My suggestion: Definitely the American flag but you may also need to know the specific branch of the military. Top Gun leaning ideas would be the Navy. An Army man may take offense at a Navy plane! LOL I think dog tags would be a good start. If it is for a special unit or detachment, try to get one of their patches/insignia and you might could do something with that - a lightening bolt, etc.

If it is a specific branch of the armed forces then do a search on CC using Marines, Navy, Army, etc. and that will get you started.

I have seen some really great cakes for 4th of July, etc. Borrow a few ideas and incorporate the ones you like best!
